CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS REPORT
This project progress report is for construction activities for capital improvement projects such as major roadway widening projects. The Field Engineering Division oversees transportation construction projects and reports the following activities for January 2012:

MAGEE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS: MONA LISA TO LA CANADA DRIVE
Scope: This is Phase 1 of the Cortaro Farms Road/Magee Road: Thornydale Road to Oracle Road Improvement Project. The improvements for Phase 1 include the widening of the roadway to four lanes with a center median. Bike lanes and sidewalks will be added between Shannon and La Cañada. The off-set intersection of Magee Road and La Cholla Boulevard will be reconfigured to make it a safer intersection. The drainage along the Carmack Wash will also be improved. Native plant landscaping and public art will be included in the project.

LA CANADA DRIVE: INA ROAD TO CALLE CONCORDIA
Scope: The project consists of improving the roadway to four lanes with a center median. Additional improvements include intersection improvements at Ina Road, Magee Road and Hardy/Overton Road and five new concrete culverts at the Nanini, Pegler, Carmack and North and South Garfield washes and an enclosed storm water drainage system. Other features include noise and retraining walls, sidewalks and a public use trail along with landscaping and public art.

TANQUE VERDE ROAD: CATALINA HIGHWAY TO HOUGHTON ROAD
Scope: The project consists of improving the roadway to four lanes with a center median. Bicycle and pedestrian facilities will be added along with landscaping and public art. Other project features include outside curbs, retaining walls, and storm drains and drainage improvements.

| ALVERNON WAY AND VALENCIA ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS:
Scope: The project consists of reconstructing the existing Alvernon Way and Valencia Road to provide dual left turn lanes at all approaches at the intersection.

LAGUNA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-SHANNON ROAD:
Scope: The project consists of installing concrete sidewalks with curb access ramps (ADA accessible) on Shannon Road from Diamond Street to Royal Palm Drive. The project also includes minor drainage improvements, relocation of existing marked school crosswalk at Laguna School, concrete curb, decomposed granite and rock mulch.

| GOLDER RANCH DRIVE BRIDGE AT CANADA DEL ORO WASH DECK REHABILITATION:
Scope: The project consists of rehabilitating the eastbound and westbound bridge deck and approach slabs by hydro-demolishing the top 2” of concrete and placing a 2 ¼“ structural overlay of micro silica modified concrete. The work also includes the replacement of bridge expansion joints and asphaltic concrete pavement transitions to the approach slabs.

LA CHOLLA BOULEVARD (RUTHRAUFF ROAD – RIVER ROAD)
Scope: The project consists of improving the roadway to six travel lanes, paved shoulders for bicycles, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains. Additional improvements include intersection improvements at Curtis and at Ruthrauff, a new six-lane bridge over the Rillito River, a raised landscaped median and public art.

I-19 EAST FRONTAGE ROAD: CANOA ROAD TO CONTINENTAL
Scope: The project consists of constructing and reconstructing a continuous two lane Frontage Road between the Canoa Interchange and the Continental Interchange. Two new bridges constructed over the Esperanza and Unnamed Washes. This project will include the signalization of the southbound and northbound I-19 off ramps at the Continental Road Interchange, widening of Continental Road under I-19 and construction of a combined ramp for northbound I-19 and the East Frontage Road. Other project features include drainage improvements, paved shoulders, landscaping.

SUNRISE DRIVE CRAYCROFT RD. TO KOLB ROAD:
Scope: The project consists of improving the existing two lanes Sunrise Drive with exclusive turn lanes, slope stabilization, cross drainage facilities, and a storm drain system. Other project features include intersection drainage improvements, street lighting, sidewalks, and public art.
